How the system works
Intelligent and easy to use tool for the Dispatch Centre for alerting the geographically closest Community First Responders and CPR trained bystanders.
When the dispatch centre receives a call about a person in need for help, they dispatch the ambulance services and activate the FirstAED system simultaneously to achieve the best possible response time to life-saving help.
All the dispatch centre needs to do is set-up FirstAED in their system as a vehicle/unit so that the system receives the address of the patient. The rest of the process is automated and can be overview in the Computer Aided Dispatch System by the dispatchers when integrated bi-directionally.
Integration to the dispatch centre computer aided dispatch is the preferred way to use the FirstAED system, but it is possible to make a stand-alone system based on PC or Ipad for other services, e.g. fire or home guard.
The FirstAED system shows the dispatcher the AED location and the Community First Responders and CPR trained bystanders who have accepted the alarm (using GPS).
The dispatcher can see the Community First Responders and CPR trained bystanders on screen and their telephone number, so that it is easy to contact them.
It is possible to send additional information to the responders through the system, so that updates or additional task can be easily allocated.
A stand-down order can be made, simply by cancelling the alarm in the system.

Intelligent and easy to use smartphone application for the Community First Responders and CPR trained bystanders with GPS tracking.
The Community First Responders and CPR trained bystanders gets a loud alarm on the smartphone that cannot easily be overseen. When accepted, the Community First Responders and CPR trained bystanders gets the following information:
- instructions on the role they have been assigned
- an overview of the position of the other Community First Responders and CPR trained bystanders and the nearest AED location
- audio navigation to the emergency location
- the possibility to call the other Community First Responders and CPR trained bystanders or the EMS via a contact menu
When the call-out is completed, the Community First Responders and CPR trained bystanders fill in a case report on the smartphone and in the case they wish to discuss the case with a supervisor, they have the possibility to request for debriefing. A supervisor will be advised about this via SMS/e-mail, so that he can call the Community First Responders and CPR trained bystanders for debriefing.
AED locations and AED management
FirstAED has the functionality for loading a map and the AED locations from your current AED register to the system, so that AED locations and road directions are available for the Community First Responders and CPR trained bystanders in the case of an alarm.
AED management functionality in the system makes sure that the AEDs are available 24-7 with optimal visibility and safety. With possibility to GSM/SMS communication to automatically open and lock the cabinet.
When an AED has been used the FirstAED system automatically cancels the AED, so it does not appear on the map, when the next alarm is activated. This way the system ensures that the Community First Responders and CPR trained bystanders do not waste valuable time by driving to an empty AED-cabinet.
